Oxford shoes are the closed-lacing dress shoes for men: the lacing panels are stitched under the vamp, which gives the clean, close line that suits a suit. A cap toe Oxford is the standard for the office, interviews and formal events.
A wholecut Oxford is cut from a single piece of leather, with no seams across the upper. Wingtip and brogue Oxfords add perforated detail and read a little less formal, and medallion-toe pairs carry a punched pattern on the toe.
Most pairs here are hand-finished: burnished toes, two-tone patinas and croc-pattern panels sit alongside plain black and brown leather Oxford shoes. Need a size, width or color you don't see? Ask about Custom Made.
Cap toe, wholecut, wingtip and medallion Oxfords for business and formal wear.
Black cap toe Oxfords are the pair for interviews, the office and formal dress codes. Brown and cognac cap toes and wingtip Oxford shoes cover business and smart-casual wear with navy, grey and tan tailoring. Choose a wholecut Oxford when you want the plainest, sleekest upper, a full brogue for more texture, and black patent leather for evening wear.
Closed lacing gives less room over the instep than a Derby.
When an Oxford is tied, the two sides of the lacing should sit close together. If they gape wide, the instep is too tight: choose a wider width (E, EE or EEE) before you go up a size, or try an open-laced Derby. Toe shape matters too, since almond and square toes fit differently at the same size. Every pair is made in US sizes 6 to 15, including half sizes.
Black for formal, brown and cognac for business, patina to stand out.
Smooth black leather Oxford shoes are the most formal and the easiest to polish. Burnished brown, cognac and tan pair with navy and grey suits. Hand-painted patina and croc-pattern finishes are for when the shoes are meant to be noticed. Each pair's leather, sole and construction are listed on its product page.
