How these cap toe shoes fit
The toe is a refined dress shape. An Oxford has closed lacing, so it is the least adjustable style over the instep. When new, the laces should close with a narrow V-shaped gap that shuts as the leather settles. If the two sides meet completely on the first day, the shoe is too big; if the gap is wide, you need a wider width. Order your usual US dress shoe size, which is often different from your sneaker size. We make men's cap toe shoes in every size from 6 to 15 including half sizes, so size 13, 14 and 15 are made like any other size.
If your instep is high, an Oxford can feel tight across the top of the foot. The four widths are D (standard), E (wide), EE (extra wide) and EEE. A high instep or a broad forefoot is solved with width, not length, because a longer Oxford creases in the wrong place and slips at the heel. Try them with the dress socks you plan to wear.

The structure here is as disciplined as a dress shoe gets: closed lacing, a straight cap across the toe and a line of brogue perforations framing each panel. The colour is what makes it unconventional. The leather is finished by hand in layers that run from red to deep burgundy, with darker burnishing at the cap and edges. A patina like this is built slowly, coat by coat, and it comes out slightly differently on every pair. The lining is goat or calf leather and the sole is leather. Red is one of the hardest colours to finish well, because it turns flat and bright if it is applied in one coat. Building it in layers with burgundy over the top and dark burnishing at the edges is what keeps it rich.
Red-burgundy patina · Cap toe · Brogue trim
The cap line and the brogue trim give the colour a frame, so the shoe stays a dress shoe and does not become a novelty. The pair is hand-welted with closed-channel stitching, lined in leather, and can be resoled. Men's cap toe shoes in red-burgundy go with navy, charcoal and mid-grey suits and suit weddings and evenings especially well. It suits anyone searching for burgundy cap toe Oxford shoes, red dress shoes for men, oxblood Oxfords or patina dress shoes for a wedding. These are handmade Oxford shoes, made to order in your size and width.

Common questions
Use the size guide for US sizing, width and last guidance. If you are between sizes or unsure about width/last, compare your measurements with the product fit notes or contact Handsole before production. Break-in varies by the specific upper, lining, sole, construction and fit.
If the fit needs attention, contact us under the Fit Promise so we can review the issue and the available remake, adjustment or return option for that order.
Break-in varies by leather, lining, last and fit. A correctly sized pair should feel secure rather than painfully tight; the leather and insole will gradually conform with wear.
Construction details for this product are listed in the Materials & Construction section above. Where the build is resoleable, the upper can be retained while a worn sole is replaced when the pair remains serviceable.
Choose from the widths offered above. If you need unusual forefoot or instep room, have different left/right measurements, or repeatedly struggle with fit, review the Sizing & Fit guide or contact us before production so we can compare the available last/width options or a custom adjustment.
Remove loose dust with a soft brush or clean cloth. Follow the care instructions for the specific leather and finish; suede, patent, patina and two-tone uppers may need different products. Test any suitable cleaner, cream or conditioner on an inconspicuous area first, and use separate clean applicators on contrasting colours. Condition only when the leather and finish need it, rather than on a fixed schedule. Let damp shoes dry naturally away from direct heat. Contact Handsole before attempting recolouring or using a treatment whose compatibility is uncertain.
