Tan leather with darker burnished toe and edges · Tan laces and toe medallion perforations · Rounded forepart
A golden tan upper, darker burnished edges and a perforated toe medallion give this wholecut Oxford its distinctive balance of colour and detail. The leather continues smoothly across the forepart and sides, with no cap-toe seam or wingtip panel interrupting the surface. Darker shading around the toe, opening and heel outlines that continuous shape. Matching tan laces sit within the closed lacing, keeping the focus on the leather and the small decorative medallion at the front. Men's tan Oxford shoes, cut as a wholecut with a medallion punched into the toe.

Fit Confidence
⊞
Closed Oxford lacing gives a neat line across the instep and offers adjustment within the opening. It may feel different from an open-laced Derby, particularly on a high instep. The facings should sit comfortably when tied, without excessive pressure. Use the Fit Guide and your intended socks to assess fit; do not compensate for instep pressure by adding unnecessary length.

Last & Fit
How these tan Oxford shoes fit
The forepart is rounded, which gives the toes room. An Oxford has closed lacing, so it is the least adjustable style over the instep. When new, the laces should close with a narrow V-shaped gap that shuts as the leather settles. If the two sides meet completely on the first day, the shoe is too big; if the gap is wide, you need a wider width. Order your usual US dress shoe size, which is often different from your sneaker size. We make men's tan Oxford shoes in every size from 6 to 15 including half sizes, so size 13, 14 and 15 are made like any other size.
A wholecut has no seams to give, so choose the width carefully. The four widths are D (standard), E (wide), EE (extra wide) and EEE. A high instep or a broad forefoot is solved with width, not length, because a longer Oxford creases in the wrong place and slips at the heel. Try them with the dress socks you plan to wear.

Tan leather shows everything, which makes a tan wholecut one of the more demanding shoes to make: one piece of leather, no seams across the front, and a colour that hides nothing. Warm tan runs across the centre of the shoe and is burnished by hand into darker brown at the toe and around the edges. A small medallion, a pattern of perforations, is punched into the toe. It decorates the front without dividing it the way a toe cap or wingtip would. The medallion is punched through the leather before the shoe is lasted, so it has to be positioned to sit dead centre on the toe once the upper is pulled into shape. The lining is brown and the sole is brown leather. Burnishing a tan leather takes a light hand, because too much and the contrast looks painted on.
Wholecut · Tan leather, burnished toe · Toe medallion
Tan laces keep the front in one colour, and the toe is rounded. The pair is hand-welted with the welt stitching visible along the sole edge and can be resoled. Men's tan Oxford shoes are spring and summer dress shoes: light grey, blue and beige suits, linen, and weddings in daylight. They are less formal than black or dark brown, so avoid them with a dark business suit. It suits anyone searching for a tan wholecut Oxford, light brown Oxford shoes, medallion Oxford shoes or tan dress shoes for a summer wedding. These are handmade Oxford shoes, made to order in your size and width.

Common questions
Use the size guide for US sizing, width and last guidance. If you are between sizes or unsure about width/last, compare your measurements with the product fit notes or contact Handsole before production. Break-in varies by the specific upper, lining, sole, construction and fit.
If the pair doesn’t fit, contact us within 14 days of delivery and we remake it free, with free return shipping.
Break-in varies by leather, lining, last and fit. A correctly sized pair should feel secure rather than painfully tight; the leather and insole will gradually conform with wear.
Construction details for this product are listed in the Materials & Construction section above. Where the build is resoleable, the upper can be retained while a worn sole is replaced when the pair remains serviceable.
Choose from the widths offered above. If you need unusual forefoot or instep room, have different left/right measurements, or repeatedly struggle with fit, review the Sizing & Fit guide or contact us before production so we can compare the available last/width options or a custom adjustment.
Remove loose dust with a soft brush or clean cloth. Follow the care instructions for the specific leather and finish; suede, patent, patina and two-tone uppers may need different products. Test any suitable cleaner, cream or conditioner on an inconspicuous area first, and use separate clean applicators on contrasting colours. Condition only when the leather and finish need it, rather than on a fixed schedule. Let damp shoes dry naturally away from direct heat. Contact Handsole before attempting recolouring or using a treatment whose compatibility is uncertain.
