An elongated toe and a hardware-free vamp

The almond-shaped forepart gives these plain black mules a longer visual line. Toe shape does not establish internal width. Check that your toes have room and your heel rests fully on the footbed, without hanging over the rear edge. The vamp should hold comfortably across the instep; there is no strap to tighten.

A plain mule with detail in the leather

A plain vamp leaves very little to hide behind: the curve of the toe, the height of the front and the surface of the leather become the design. This black mule keeps that uninterrupted outline but adds a fine, close-set grid texture. From a distance the upper reads as polished black; closer up, the small pattern catches the light across the forepart and tall vamp. There is no penny strap, tassel or metal ornament competing with it. The elongated almond toe narrows gently toward the front, while the side opening drops toward the exposed heel. Dark piping and tonal stitching follow the upper edge, keeping the outline restrained.
